Message from the President
of the International Olympic Committee,
Jacques Rogge
for the “Sport, Olympism and Native Sports” Contest
organised by
the National Olympic & Paralympic Academy of Iran, November
2007
On behalf of the Olympic Movement, I should like to convey
my greetings and best wishes to the participants of the
National Contest on Olympic, Sport and Art.
From 13 to 15 November, the National Olympic and Paralympic
Academy of Iran invites the artists of the country to create
sculptures, graphic designs and paintings on the theme of
“Sport, Olympism and Native Sports”, thus highlighting an
active synergy between the worlds of art and sport and then
heightening perception of the link between these two areas.
As the national phase of the “2008 Olympic Sport and Art
Contest” launched by the IOC Commission for Culture and
Olympic Education, this contest could bring to life works
which could go on to win and be put on show in Beijing
during the forthcoming Games of the XXIX Olympiad in August
2008.
All my best wishes for success to the organisers. And good
luck to all the competitors!
